Criteria for Stallholders
To be classed as a Farmers market, all Market stalls must be held by a genuine farm business and meet the following criteria:
Produce should be locally produced - Only produce from the defined area shall be eligible for sale at a farmers market. The defined area is the Highland and Island region of Scotland. Local producers (those in the Ross and Cromarty area) will be given preference over those from further afield.
Stall Attendance - The principal producer or a representative directly involved in the production process must attend the stall.
Primary Produce - All produce sold must be grown, reared, made or caught by the stallholder.
Secondary Produce -All produce must be brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stall holder using at least one ingredient of origin from within the defined local area.


Stallholders should ensure that their product(s) are in at least one of the following categories:
- Fruit and Vegetables;
- Meat or Poultry products;
- Bread and baking;
- Fish and Seafood;
- Flowers and Plants;
- Craft and Jewellery.
If uncertain, please consult co-ordinator to ensure your product complies with the market criteria.
Stall Availability
There are a limited number of half or short stalls available for first time stallholders and very small producers please ask the co-ordinator for further details.
Local groups and charities
There are two free stalls set aside for use by any local groups. Groups who wish to have either a fundraising event or a promotional event should return the attendance form indicating which market they would prefer to attend. The promotional events can used to advertise the local group and its work, to raise awareness of their group within the local community and to encourage new membership. Assistance with the promotional event is available from the co-ordinator.
